About JP
When you hear Jennifer Paskow’s rich, honey-like vocals and her honest, uplifting, hypnotic melodies, you feel like you’ve been dipped in a warm, soothing bath. You simultaneously wonder why you have not heard her before and when can you hear her again.
Jennifer is reminiscent in both looks and sound of singer-songwriters from the 60s and 70s. Her earthy tones and tunes create a penetrating intimacy—you find yourself suddenly wanting to know more about her.
There is a deep soulfulness to Jennifer’s songs. She writes and sings from a place of truth, from her heart. She says: “I write songs almost unconsciously. It’s hard to describe, but the songs almost write themselves. As a result, I learn a lot about myself when I listen to what has just come out of me.”
One of her fans states: “Jennifer’s music is more than a sound; it is an experience you won’t forget. The moment her voice overcame the room my eyes filled with tears and my heart opened. Her lyrics reflect a story or a journey from the darkest to the lightest sides of life. She goes deep into the roots of a common humanity.”
Jennifer began performing in the clubs in the Lower East Side of New York City, including the Knitting Factory, CBGB’s, the Living Room and the infamous anti-folk scene of Sidewalk Café. She also sang at the glorious Carnegie Hall.
She recorded her debut CD “Somewhere to Rest My Head” with respected New York indie rock producer Teddy Kumpel, who also worked with Ricky Lee Jones, Feist, Marshall Crenshaw and Chris Baron.
After taking a trip to Los Angeles to visit friends, she decided she was ready to move to the land of the sun. Since her move, she has become increasingly more accomplished and acclaimed.
Jennifer’s music has been featured on Lifetime Television, and her side project, The Gilded Lilies, signed a music-licensing contract with Format Entertainment (Transformers, Sex and the City, Alvin & The Chipmunks).
The Gilded Lilies’s song “So Long Farewell” won “best-in-category” in The West Coast Songwriter’s competition. Their song “This Day” was also selected to be the title track of the World Hepatitis Alliance’s first CD which featured collaborations by artists such as Lisa Gerrard, Michael Levine and Melanie Laurent. The Dove Self-Esteem Fund’s global ambassador Jess Weiner featured the Gilded Lilies’ song “On the Inside” for her self-esteem workshops.
Jennifer has been fortunate to sing on stage with Ringo Starr, Joe Walsh, Dave Stewart and Booker T in honor of John Lennon for the House of Blues Ending Hunger Project.
Jennifer also willingly lends her voice to organizations and projects she believes in. She sings at children’s hospitals in conjunction with the nonprofit Art of Elysium. And she has organized and performed at numerous events benefiting organizations working to end violence against women and children, including VDAY, Sanctuary for Families in NYC and Children of the Night in Los Angeles.
Jennifer believes that a change in one individual can change the world and that music can inspire people to change themselves. Sometimes just one line of a song can give someone the hope they need to transform their life, or get through a challenge they are facing. Jennifer believes in the power of music to change lives and create a better world. And after listening to her buttery, soulful voice, you just might agree.
